Narrated Anas: I heard from Allah's Apostle a narration which none other than I will narrate to you. The Prophet, said, "From among the portents of the Hour are the following:  General ignorance (in religious affairs) will prevail, (religious) knowledge will decrease, illegal sexual intercourse will prevail, alcoholic drinks will be drunk (in abundance), men will decrease and women will increase so much so that for every fifty women there will be one man to look after them."

The signs general ignorance (in religious affairs) will prevail and (religious) knowledge will decrease have already been explained above. Further, few more signs are revealed by this hadith which includes increase of illegal sexual intercourse and consumption of alcohol will increase.  This a fact today that there are no restrictions on mingling of opposite sexes in our societies which leads to adultery. Quran states regarding this interpretation of the meaning
“And come not near to the unlawful sexual intercourse. Verily, it is a Fahishah [i.e. anything that transgresses its limits (a great sin)], and an evil way (that leads one to Hell unless Allah forgives him).”
[Quran Surah Isra 17 verse 32]

On average, in USA young people have sex for the first time at about age 17, but they do not marry until their mid-20s. Men in USA have sex approximately with more than 4 women before he settle with one taking her as his wife.

Alcoholic consumption will increase and thus it is currently on the rise. Lastly, number of men will decrease and women will increase so much that for every fifty women there will be one man to look after them.

This can be because of the reason that more men die in wars, etc then woman and the increasing rate of birth of woman. Adult males tend to have higher death rates than adult females of the same age due to natural causes such as heart attacks and strokes, which account for by far the majority of deaths and also to violent causes, such as homicide and warfare for example, in the USA as of 2006, an adult non-elderly male is 3 to 6 times more likely to become a victim of a homicide and 2.5 to 3.5 times more likely to die in an accident than a female of the same age. In third world countries number of males exceeds females because of high abortion rate for females and they are generally killed after birth in some parts of Africa.
