Does Quran 5:101 forbids not to question on religion?

It appears that the Quran, in 5:101, discourages Muslims from asking questions. However it is not true.

The Noble Verses do not prohibit Muslims from asking questions, or many questions in general, but rather warn Muslims from questioning their faith too much by asking thorny questions, because this will open up the door for Satan's temptations.

Quran 5:101
"O you who have believed, do not ask about things which, if they are shown to you, will distress you. But if you ask about them while the Qur'an is being revealed, they will be shown to you. Allah has pardoned that which is past; and Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing."

This is further verified in the following Hadith:
Narrated Mu'awiyah: "The Holy Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) forbade the discussion of thorny questions. (Translation of Sunan Abu-Dawud, Knowledge (Kitab Al-Ilm), Book 25, Number 3648)"

Prophet said Ask me anything you like:
Narrated Abu Musa: "The Prophet was asked about things which he did not like, but when the questioners insisted, the Prophet got angry. He then said to the people, "Ask me anything you like." A man asked, "Who is my father?" The Prophet replied, "Your father is Hudhafa." Then another man got up and said, "Who is my father, O Allah's Apostle ?" He replied, "Your father is Salim, Maula (the freed slave) of Shaiba." So when 'Umar saw that (the anger) on the face of the Prophet he said, "O Allah's Apostle! We repent to Allah (Our offending you)." (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Knowledge, Volume 1, Book 3, Number 92)"

Questioning Allah

The angels asked God, when He told them He was going to create Adam and set him up as His deputy on earth. They asked God, “Are You placing in it (the earth) whom will corrupt it and shed blood, while we celebrate Your praise and sanctify You?” (2:30) God did not reprimand them for asking. Instead, He answered them that the wisdom of the matter is beyond their comprehension.

So we can conclude that asking question on religion is not prohibited in Islam. Moreover, the angels also asked question to Allah on creation of a human. If it was prohibited than angels had questioned the God (Allah)
