Allah’s Days Equal to 1000 Years or 50,000 Years?
"A day in the sight of the Lord is like a thousand years of your reckoning. Quran-32:5: To Him, on a Day, the space whereof will be a thousands years of your rekoning" [Quran 22: 47]
"He rules (all) affairs from the heavens to the earth: in the end will (all affairs) go up to Him (Allah), on a Day, the space whereof will (as) a thousand years of your reckoning." [Quran 32:5]
"The angels and the spirit ascend unto him in a day the measure whereof is Fifty thousands years." [Quran 70: 4]
There is no contradiction.
The first one, Al-Hajj 22:47 describes the polytheist's taunting of Muhammad (pbuh) and their demand that he hurry up and bring the torment of hellfire if he is truthful. The verse goes on to describe God's patience in the face of such arrogance and goading and how a "day" with our Lord is like a thousand years with us. In other words, God does not need to be in a hurry to take them in their sins "right now," rather he gives the transgressor more and more rope and more and more chances to repent not needing to follow the human desire of "get revenge now or he might get away." For our Lord to wait for a thousand years is like our waiting for one day. He knows that no one shall escape Him no matter how they may delude themselves.
The second verse, Al-Sajdah 32:5 speaks about the decree of our Lord descending to earth and our deeds being raised up to Him through all of the many light-years of distance across the heavens in a period, or distance, which in our estimation is equal to one thousand years, but which takes less than the blink of an eye.
The third and final verse, Al-Maarij 70:4 speaks about the Day of Judgment (as seen in Musnad Ahmed 5642, in the saying of the prophet narrated by ibn Omar) and describes it as "a day the span of which is fifty thousand years." This is part of the torment of the evil and sinful people of earth. They are taken on that day to a long and drawn-out judgment which is in and of itself a horrendous punishment. However, as narrated in Musnad Ahmed (3/75), the prophet (pbuh) informed the believers that that day shall be made lighter upon the believers than a single prayer which they used to pray in this life.
Further confirming that last verse talks about Day of Judgement
Muslim in his Saheeh Number 987
Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no owner of treasure who does not pay his zakaah, but it will be heated in the Fire of Hell and made into plates with which his sides and forehead will be branded until Allah passes judgement between His slaves on a Day (Of Judegement) the length of which will be “like fifty thousand years”, then he see shown his path and whether it leads to Paradise or to Hell. And there is no owner of camels who does not pay zakaah on them, but a soft sandy plain will be prepared for him and they will be made to step on him. Every time the last of them has gone the first of them will return, until Allaah passes judgement between His slaves on a Day (Of Judegement) the length of which will be “like fifty thousand years”, then he will see his path and whether it leads to Paradise or to Hell.
Muhsin is much close to translate 32:5
" He arranges (every) affair from the heavens to the earth, then it (affair) will go up to Him, in one Day, the space whereof is a thousand years of your reckoning (i.e. reckoning of our present world's time)."
So we see that verse is talking about.
22:47 This verse talks about the unbelievers wanting God to hasten on their punishment. Then it says "a day in the sight of your Lord is like a 1000 years of your reckoning.
32:5 In the end will all affairs go up to Him in a day equal to 1000 years of your reckoning.
70:4 The angels and the spirit ascend to Him in a Day equal to 50,000 years of your reckoning.
